Anjeanette: Just being excited about the trip to Cancun with Noah and the kiddos.  It's nice just having this anticipation so far out!

Anjeanette: The Re-enactment at Pea Ridge.  Wearing shorts and T-shirts, the 4 of us went out and watched the blue vs. the grey.  The best parts were stopping by the smithy, where Noah and Keegan appreciated the handiwork on an array of weapons and going to pet Roger the horse and talking to Franky, a 10-year old kiddo whose mom does the re-enactments.  Fun!

Keegan: I did better than Mundo on two quizzes which I got a perfect score in both. One in Algebra II, one in AP Human Geography.

Anjeanette: Mary Kim giving me the "Font Diva" pin from the Josten's swag.  How perfect!

Keegan: I found out that with a little training,  I could survive the zombie apocalypse no problem.

Anjeanette: Sitting at home with Keegan and Noah, eating barbeque and Keegan asking questions to find the results for online quizzes about beating hoards of Kindergartners and surviving the Zombie Apocalypse.  It almost felt like a family emergency planning session!

Keegan: Ran for the first time as a XC group in weeks. 

Anjeanette: Running with the group.  I felt really strong and it was the first time I ever really talked to Craig.

I found out that the toponym test in Human Geography was only a week away. Looking forward to it.

Anjeanette: Running with Nikki in the morning.  It was cold, I didn't want to go, but it was a great run!

Keegan: I got to play a strange game called Trouble in Terrorist Town. Very strange.

Anjeanette: The kiddos told me that a good source was the one with the most impressive mustache.  When I told them that that meant that Mr. Willard was their Middle School Guru, they changed their tune!

Keegan: Playing Halo 4 for the last time before we had to return it. Where did the time go?
Anjeanette: Reading Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer for a big chunk of the day!

Keegan: For the first time ever I shot a handgun. I started off with a .22 but went on to a .45. I'm also a much better shot than I thought.

Anjeanette: Just a great day of firsts!  Elliot's first day ice skating.  Keegan's first day shooting a handgun (and I shot, too).  Noah's and my first fried Twinkie.  Could not have asked for a better day! (It was also the day of first library card to Bentonville Public Library and first glass recycling drop-off! Woot!  Woot!)

Keegan: I got to stay up late and not worry about anything. YAYAYAYAYAY.

Anjeanette: Walk at Slaughter Pen on a brisk fall day.  (And getting the tree all situated!)

Keegan:  Being able to stay in and being able to laugh at people who had to have a big dinner when I just got to have rolls!

Anjeanette:  Ran 9 miles at Devil's Den...  beautiful sunshine and perfect temps and saw five deer bound across the path....  and then Thanksgiving dinner at the station with Noah.

Keegan: Renting Halo 4 and finding out that you can find out where items are available on Redbox and you can hold them!

Anjeanette:  Going to Lincoln with Noah.  Daniel Day Lewis was perfect as Lincoln.  What an amazing actor!

Keegan:  It was Thanksgiving with my family.  Thanksgiving is always good because I get food.  Stuffing!!!

Anjeanette:  The trip to Eureka Springs.  Even though Quigley Castle was closed, we saw the Thorncrown Chapel and climbed a tower from which we could see Jesus.  Seriously!

Keegan: I got to play Halo 4 early in the morning and late at night. I pwnd some n00bs.


Anjeanette: Speed work tonight.  Even though family was here, Keegan wanted to go to speed.  I had a hard, fast workout and got to chat with friends.  Pretty awesome!

Keegan: We cleaned all day after we went to the square to get food.

Anjeanette: Biking to the square and having crepes with the boy (due to serendipitously longer hours!).

Keegan: I went to Geek day at the Rogers Public Library. I was just short of paid to play minecraft all day.

Anjeanette: Went to Tulsa with Noah.  The museum was a lot of fun, and running through those neighborhoods!  Just a great time hanging out with him and discussing art.

Keegan: I did my Algebra test today and it was pretty easy.

Anjeanette: I got some Christmas shopping done after work.  Gotta love that!

Keegan: It was relieving to finally have a Biology test done that I had not had time to do since the day of which was also the day of Conference.

Anjeanette:  I put the kids PhotoPeaches on a google map so they could see where they were geographically which felt good!  And the 6th grade was so excited about the Reader's theater of the Impeachment.  So happy about that!  Filming tomorrow!

Keegan: Today Coach told me that I am a lot like the number three runner in the state. Both in academics, athletics, and just plain old personality.
Anjeanette: It was the 80s day at the Middle School and we had a skating outing.  The kids just seemed to have such a great time.  What a nice last week before Thanksgiving Break!  (And Keegan's message from his coach is steering him towards XC next year.  That would make my week!)

Anjeanette:  Mary Kim brought me the green dress!  It will be worn this Thursday!  How thoughtful!

Keegan: I got to stay home most of the day and just wallow in happiness.
Anjeanette: Not sure if it was getting to go to the Hip Opener due to Whitney's headache or hanging out with Noah afterward.  I been in a poor mood, but things got so much better.  He was silly sleepy and so much fun!

Keegan: Going to speed.  Mike is going to make a workout for me so I can train for running 400s.

Anjeanette: When in study hall, Aaron just said: I wish you were one of those lazy teachers.  Oddly, it made me feel pretty good!

Keegan: The watch party at school with the Young Democrats.

Anjeanette: Listening to the returns come in on NPR at the table with my son.  Once Ohio went for Obama it was over!  It was nice having that moment with Keegan.  And then being super happy when Noah came over.

Keegan: Getting to sleep most of the day after pulling a vicious all-nighter.
Anjeanette: Hanging out with Karsten and Keegan. Between our stops at the mustache (and other stores) and swinging, I had a great time with my favorite boys. Then hanging with Kyla and having pizza was a great ending.

Keegan: Dinner and going to see Shrek!  My favorite was the cross-dressing wolf!

Anjeanette: Having a night out with my son.  We had a great time at dinner and he's the perfect age for an off-color funny musical.  I loved Lord Farquad.  So inappropriate, but so funny!

Keegan: Got to see Alex at First Friday then went home with him. Good day in general.

Anjeanette: My son told me about how he got in trouble in Science even though he didn't do anything.  He told the teacher that two other kids were not involved, but didn't say a word about himself, thinking one of the other two would vouch for him.  They did not.  So he's going to just do the assignment.  I am very proud of him.  This is what a good man does.  Sticks up for the guys and is willing to take the heat.  How did I get so lucky?

Keegan: In Science Maharshi started packing up early and Mr. Chester told him that class wasn't over yet.  When the bell rang, Maharshi said, "See ya!" and Mr. Chester told him to come back.  Mr. Chester told Mahashi that he couldn't leave until everyone from class had left.  So Alex and I took our time.  We walked out slowly and Maharshi ran past me when I was in the doorway.  I said I wasn't technically out of class yet, so Mr. Chester called him back.  I stopped to tie my shoe and just as I was leaving, another girl came back in.  Tag team.

Anjeanette: My run with Nikki this morning.  We weren't planning on doing a tempo run, but we just kept getting faster.  Made me feel like my training is going really well.  :)

Anjeanette: Going to the Keegan's meet and having Noah there.  I always do these things alone.  I'm always fine and enjoy cheering for my son, but it's nice to have someone else there with me.

Anjeanette: Halloween Speed.  Whitney put together one heck of an event!  It was low miles but stinking fast!  I really felt like all of the runners out there enjoyed each other's company!

Keegan:  Getting to wake up late and not having someone (ahem...Mom) come in and yell, "Get Up!!!)

Anjeanette: It might have been the trip to the outhouse.  After hiking on the Buffalo, we were driving, listening to Big Smith.  I needed to use the restroom and commented that this old church, that looked like it had an outhouse actually HAD AN OUTHOUSE.  So, Noah stopped, and to this hillbilly music, backed the truck up down this country road and I jumped out and used the outhouse.  It doesn't get much better than that!

Keegan:  The Corn Maze at the Pumpkin Patch.  These kids freaked out my mom because I told them that she would be coming!

Anjeanette: The pumpkin patch was so much fun.  We went with Noah and Elliot, but I had the best time going with Keegan to the corn maze.  Even though he was great to Elliot the whole time, he didn't want to do the hay ride, so we went on to the corn maze by ourselves and I'm so glad that we had that time together.

I also loved the Haunted House.

Keegan: I went to a haunted house with some friends and I was the only one not to get scared in my group at least once. There was another boy in my group.

Anjeanette: The 5th grade teachers told me that my name came up in every conference they had.  They have a student who has self esteem issues and the child's counselor suggested writing one good thing himself each day and having the parent to do the same.  The teachers alluded to this blog that my son and I can do, thinking it was a good format so the child could look back on it when he needed to.  We never know how our actions affect others.  :)

Keegan: In Biology, we had an organic compound election. My group of nucleic acid was the only one to get someone from another group to vote for us.

Anjeanette: Mr. Vaden got a science club project plan and had to share it with me, because step two was: Kill Kenny!  Love it!

Keegan: My mom buying me a bow tie.

Anjeanette: Keegan telling me that he was going to start a "coming of age" tradition in his family.  That when his boys are men, he will take them to get a bow tie.  I was just buying him his first real bow tie when he told me this.

Anjeanette: The half.  Actually hanging out after the half and seeing how excited Noah was about the race atmosphere.  What a great event to be his first one!

Keegan: Spending time with my dad.

Anjeanette: It was just such a great day with Noah in Des Moines.  We really enjoyed the city and did so much!  Maybe it was going to the Sailbury House.  It felt so much like things just went a little wrong all day, but ended up being so perfect!

Keegan: Oreo ball and cupcake made by Avery!

Anjeanette: Friede excited about making a video of the Jean Francois Champollion dance.  We filmed it behind a green screen and he put in a background of French streets.  I'm so looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Also, the drive to Iowa with Keegan and Noah.  Even our Gates debacle became a positive adventure.

Keegan: After people in my seminar did a butt-load of wall sits, people from CC said I could do more push-ups than anyone, and the guys from football said I could fly.  Shwoosh.

Anjeanette: We were learning about hieroglyphs and we got to Jean Francois Champollion.  We made a little dance and the kids were saying it and dancing to it ALL DAY!

Keegan: The Moroccan concert during Seminar.  It was a lot of fun...  the music was different, but in a good way.  And the people looked like they had a lot of fun playing it.

Keegan: Subway!  (GDad got it for me because I got a PR yesterday!)

Anjeanette: Yoga with Maja for the last time (Walton was there) and seeing Betsy on the trail.  She's going to let me know when she is going.  It's too bad that it took one of my friends leaving to show me that I needed to try new things and meet more people, but at lease I know it now.

And walking with Keegan on the trail.  It's nice spending time with my boy.

Keegan: Getting a PR in the 5K at the Chile Pepper.  I got 20:51.

Anjeanette: Seeing Keeg at the Chile Pepper.  I met a few of his friends (Blaire and Quentin) and he ran well.  Plus the weather was perfect and Da'bah and GDad were there!

Keegan: The Homecoming game.  I got to see friends and we destroyed Heritage!

Anjeanette: Sip and Stretch.  Red wine after hot yoga.  Yes, please!  Plus Rhonda, Cathy and Maja were there (as were cheese, delicious crackers, strawberries and chocolate!)

And my folks meeting Noah and sushi.  And liking him.  :)

Keegan: I got lots of food in lunch today. All for one low price. (Only at participating retailers for a limited time only)

Anjeanette: Being told by the doctor that I needed to take two days off and not talk.  Sounds odd, but I needed someone to tell me to stop.  I keep thinking I can do it.  But sometimes I just can't.

Anjeanette:  My 6th grader's presentations.  They all dressed up and did a good job.  Proud of them!
(and the fact that the name tags came in handy for calling on students silently.  I still should have gone home, but it felt slightly genius!)

Keegan: The cross country run this morning was very calm and no one talked. That NEVER happens.

Anjeanette: The kids were very good when we did cuneiform.  I could hardly talk, but they stayed quiet and were so respectful.  What great kids!

Keegan: My friends aren't really friends with one another, but today Mundo and Justin met and they liked each other.  Also, I met another one of Justin's friends from St. Vincent's and he said, "I like this kid."

Anjeanette:  Talking in a hick accent all class period with my 2nd period class.  We really got into it.  What fun!

Keegan: Being able to stay home and not worry about anything.

Anjeanette:  Hot yoga with Maja, Rhonda and Cathy.  It was so relaxing.  I never thought I would like it, but I did.  Signed up for Stretch and Sip on Friday with Rhonda and Cathy.  Nice finding something new that I like to do.

Keegan: As I was walking home from Veronica's house, three high school students thought I was a senior.

Anjeanette:  Sushi with Maja, etc.  Dinner with Maja has always been getting 2 awesome things!  The cucumber things and Mango roll.  Yum. Yum!

Keegan:  At breakfast after Cross County, I challenged myself to eat my entire breakfast with a spoon.  An omelet, sausage, biscuit and gravy, and milk and orange juice.  I challenged my teammates to do the same.  Did I even eat the milk and orange juice with a spoon?  Oh yeah!

Anjeanette: Kadin deciding to make a Gilgamesh puppet.  How cool!

Keegan: In science Justin and I came up with nicknames that had to do with the air and crustaceans.  I'm The Sky Octopus. He's The Ozone Cuttlefish. Some others include but are not limited to: Galactic Nautilus,  Space Kraken, Air Squid, Cloud Clam, Hover Snail, and The Lowly Ground Slug.

Anjeanette: Stopping by to see Noah at the station.  Seeing him and the "rancid butt-a" engine after rocking his test was so nice.

Keegan: Late, late at night (or early in the morning, I guess) I was playing X-Box and the discussion got to our ages. And when I said I was 14, they were like, "Whoa! I thought you were like 24."  So, yeah.

Anjeanette: Found a packet of fruit snacks after my run this morning.  Had started walking and thought how badly I needed a drink, or just some sugar....  and there they were.  As if they magically appeared.  it made a great run somehow even better (and then I found the Zombie Paintball Flyer and the old picture of the little girl doing ballet).  Perfect run!

Keegan: Getting a haircut.  I've been wanting shorter hair for awhile.

Anjeanette: Getting my haircut.  Keegan got his cut in the morning and I went later.  Rachel told me about their conversation and how happy he seems this year.  She told me that he was polite and explained things to her patiently.  Plus, I got a great haircut!

Keegan: Ms. Willim, the English teacher,  sending a nice message to my mom about how much she enjoys having me in class. 

Anjeanette: Student Council Elections were amazing!  The candidates for president both served last year and were so upbeat and positive, that it was disappointing thinking that one of them was not going to be able to be on it this year.  Amazingly enough, they tied.  Exactly 50 percent each!  How is that possible???  But it made my day!

Update: Maybe it was knowing that I helped Noah stay as relaxed as possible after Betsy decided to stop working.  Not happy it happened, but I'm glad I was there.

Keegan: In Oral Communications, Cali told the class that if they wanted to know how to read their poem, they should have me read it.
Anjeanette: Going to the park with Noah and his daughter, Elliot.  I especially liked it when this neighborhood girl, Emily, wanted to play with us, too.  It brings back memories of when Keegan was little and I would take him to the park.

Keegan: Probably getting the chips.  So, I was going to grab Achal's chips as a joke and I kind of stuck out my hand.  As I did that someone put an unopened bag of Family Sized Lays in my hand.  I was like, Whoa Dude!  This guy is such a bro!

Anjeanette: I was reading the section in Gilgamesh wheere it talks of the tales, songs, and dances that were created to retell the story of the Battle over Humbuba.  Julia made and impromptu dance about the killing of Humbubu and the kids followed suit.  We even lined up to it.  It's the little things!

Keegan: On the way to the cross country meet in Branson, this kid took out his fake eye and showed us.  That was the best part of the day.

Anjeanette: Name tags!  The kiddos were excited about their font name tags and the other class wanted them as well!  How much fun is that?

Keegan: Reading to Kill a Mockingbird because it's a good book and being home because I just wanted to be home.
Anjeanette: Jeremy bringing me a Neanderthal eraser.  He had one for the test a week back and I got super excited about it, so he got online, ordered one and brought it to me.  Is it wrong to snuggle with an eraser?

Keegan: Waking up with a pancake on my chest.  I had taken 6 pancakes to my room, and woke up with 2 on my chest.  The worst part: I ate them.  They were good.

Anjeanette: On my bike ride with Britt and Kyla, we took turns berating the hills after we tackled them.  Britt and I are a little more apt to swear, but Kyla, who had intended to yell out something long and complex, rose her arm in the air and proclaimed, "I am the King of Weston Circle!"  Good times.

So, it's been a bit....  but working at making this a habit again.

Anjeanette:  Watching my son run at the Simmons CC Meet in Siloam Springs.  I had no idea how well he was doing, but could tell he was keeping up with a number of the Bentonville runners.  Yelled for him right as he needed to pick it up, and as he sprinted for the finish, I did too.  Trying to see the clock, I realized he was going to finish right about 12:00 for the 2 miler.  I 2 minute PR!

Keegan: Beating my time by 2 minutes. I felt fine, I didn't know how much more that I had, but I thought I could go a bit faster.

Keegan: In social studies today, we had a discussion about leap years and I was the only one who knew why it was February 29. Because the roman calendar began in March, adding the leap day would be adding a day to the end of the year.
Anjeanette: I wanted to do something different today, since it was the 29th, and so I ran a route with Kayla and Robert that did NOT involve running on Tiger (but did involve horses and taking cover for "bombs") and then I went to the Indian grocery!

Keegan: Coach Hedstrom put me in the first heat of the 40 yard sprinting, which meant that I also led a lot of other childrens.
Anjeanette: Getting the "Thanks to Connor" T-shirts mostly done.  It's been a journey.  And we've arrived at the destination with most of our baggage.

Keegan: Ms. Barnes said in Science that my Gamma Ray Project was the best one she's ever had.
Anjeanette: Swimming with Maja!  Went to the WFC, and knew everyone in the lanes.  Crazy!

Anjeanette: Seeing a cute little skunk this morning on my run with Nikki.  We waited while it moved off the path and towards the creek.  Then we felt safe to pass.  So cute, but we did not want our am visitor to leave a reminder on us!

Anjeanette: I've been so tired, that it was so wonderful to come home today and just relax.  I got to bed by 9 pm.  Loved it!

Anjeanette: Rush Running.  After a tough day, knowing that there is a place that is a bit like family.

Anjeanette: One of my students asked me to wear my favorite outfit and hairstyle today.  I had no idea why, but I chose something more business-ey.  After school she got her mom's phone t take a picture.  I still have no idea why, but since this child is so sweet, I'm not worried.  I have no idea what she's doing, but it makes me smile that she and her family would go to such lengths to do whatever it is!

Keegan: Today in English, I got back my book card and got a 19 out of 21 (an A).

Anjeanette: In staff meeting, administration asked if I would do a tech workshop in April and another staff meeting commented how inspiring my last workshop was.  What an amazing turn around from the past couple of years!  (And I already have ideas for what I am going to include!)

Keegan: The names of the guys working at the gas station.  I went in for butter and there was a Spaniard named O'Neil, an Ameri-man named Kerry and another one named William.
Anjeanette: Hanging out with Keeg while watching MythBusters and 30Rock.

Keegan: Going over to Alex's house. I got to spend half of the day there.
Anjeanette: Going to Lake Fayetteville to run. I saw 7 people I knew there!  It was nice to take advantage of such a beautiful day!

Keegan: It's the last day of school before the weekend!
Anjeanette: Just being able to come home and know that I don't have any planning to do for tomorrow!  Sooooo  tired!

Keegan: Ice skating
Anjeanette: Ice skating at the Jones Center as part of our Christmas Redux Outing.  Good turn out and the kids had fun!

Keegan: Yesterday in science class, Mrs. Barnes said she would help look for my science binder and tell me if she if she saw it. The last person that asked her to help look for a binder was yelled at.
Anjeanette: Met with Wednesday night run with Rush group.  It was good to see so many people there!  Whitney, Chicago, "Old Man," and more.  Ran 5 with Ty and we ended up off-roading a bit on the Crystal Bridges Trail.  It was just a bit of an adventure!

Keegan: This semester I will have lunch with 7th grade Trace.
Anjeanette: Running this morning with Nikki.  It was cold.  Super cold.  But I always feel better having the run out of the way by the time my day actually starts.  (Or was it finding out that Arsaga's has a bacon and maple syrup flavored latte?)

Keegan: Skating with Alex after he got back from Dallas.
Anjeanette: Being productive.   Lots to do, read some, graded some, but got errands run, speed work attended and even helped Keegan work on his German 101 postings.  I always feel so much better when I get things accomplished!

Keegan: Beating three levels on Wii Sports Resort Showdown.
Anjeanette: My shower.  I love it.  It's so warm and toasty.

Keegan: Playing Wii with my mom (and by myself).  I haven't played Wii in a long time.
Anjeanette: Watching the ice skaters at Lawrence Plaza while eating a crepe in 60 degree weather.  Yes, the ice was melting furiously and it was fun to watch the skaters sloshing through the water!

Keegan: Getting home and having the house to myself after my mom went to sleep.

Anjeanette: Honestly, I think it is the memory of being at a Romney rally.  I know it was cold, it was drizzling, it was windy, but I don't remember that.  What I remember is being around a lot of people who pay attention to politics.  That they care about problems and solutions.  I might not agree with them on the solutions, but I appreciate their enthusiasm and willingness to be out there!
